In spring 2011 I was offered this georgeous RS1300NT for an absolutely decent price, at which I simply couldn’t resist 😉
The guitar came with its OHSC and was – and still is – in absolutely pristine condition, 99 percent mint. The guitar appeared in the 1984 Roadstar II Deluxe catalog. Besides the NT version there also was a TR (Transparent Red) and a CS (Cherry Sunburst) model.
The RS1300NT is equipped with two Super 58 Humbuckers, which are not splittable, later models had push/pull pots and splittable 4-wire Super 58s which IMHO are Ibanez’ closest approach to the legendary PAFs.
The trem is a Pro Rock’r Pro with Top Lock and is quite stable but unfortunately not as good as an Edge/Floyd Rose. So, dep dives should be omitted.
What really attracted me to this guitar was the Bird’s Eye Maple body construction with a stunning grain. The 22 fret neck is made from one piece Maple with a beautiful skunk stripe, a Rosewood fretboard and is playing really fast. The head stock is blonde, too and makes the RS1300NT a real beauty.
Soundwise the wiring and construction and the two Super 58s make do not make it as versatile as other Ibanez guitars with Tri-Sounds etc.
But often this is not necessary at all. So, for me the axe is a real Blues machine.
Its 3,9 kilos don’t make it a leightweight guitar but it’s well balanced and comfortable and fun to play.
